Wellness in the wild at the water’s edge…
Flanking the popular waterhole at Arathusa, The Safari Spa offers guests a comprehensive spa and wellness experience to soothe the body, relax the mind, and indulge the senses.
Using locally sourced spa products, you have the choice of several signature massage, facial and grooming treatments – including bath ceremonies, body wraps, manicures and pedicures. Between the morning and afternoon game drives, you have hours to while away at your leisure… Why not spend them with us in the spa? Whatever your pleasure, you’re sure to leave the tranquil space happier and more relaxed.
We introduce you to our two spa therapists – Winnie Malatji and Blessing Ntimane – who bring the ultimate magic to the spa through the art of touch.
Meet Winnie
“I chose this career because I love people! From a young age, I knew that I had a unique gift of forging strong connections with people through my voice and through my hands.
In 2007, I went to Jade Institute to do a 3-year course to become a spa therapist. I qualified in 2009, and was so excited to at long last start my career and put my vocation in this world to work. After 6 years of gaining very valuable experience, I arrived at Arathusa Safari Lodge in 2015.
I love what I do, and I believe in myself. It is my duty to make sure that guests coming to the spa leave with a smile on their face – stress free, with relaxed body and mind.
What makes our environment unique is the magnificent view of Arathusa’s waterhole. While we work, there is a lot of animal activity happening right in front of us. We are witness to all the animal species stopping by to have a drink right in front of us. It’s a bit of an adventure for us to work in this beautiful place. I really love my job and the tranquil location that I work in.”
Meet Blessing
“In 2016, I started a 6-month theoretical course at Basapa college in my hometown. After earning my certificate, I embarked on my practical training at a number of different lodges before finding my way to Arathusa.
Being a spa therapist is an opportunity for me to help people to be at ease, which is very necessary in a world where everyone is always busy. Through my work I find meaning, as I help our guests to improve their mental health and wellbeing by creating an environment to relax and feel safe.
It gives me such satisfaction to know that for a moment someone can leave their crowded world and enter a place of peace – both in their soul and in their body. When my client leaves my session rebooted and ready to take on the world relaxed and refuelled, then I know my job is done!
I have an instinct in knowing how much clients want to communicate, or not at all. I can sense their state of being, and always strive to give off a positive energy. I am empathetic and a great listener. I am an influencer, a go-getter and an explorer. I pride myself in being authentic and being true to myself, and always celebrate peoples’ differences. I believe that all these qualities – along with my bubbly personality – make me the therapist that I am.”
